We’ve known the brand “Pride” in the market for producing laundry detergent. On Wednesday, March 23 2016, the brand released a Political Ad online in their Facebook page. The advertisement is said to be addressed to all housewives, which appears attacking the rivals of Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Mar Roxas.

It was described as follows:

“Mga misis! Time out muna tayo sa usapin ng labada. Tutal napapanahon ang nalalapit na Presidential elections, gusto lang naming maghatid sa lahat ng paalala.”

(To all housewives! Let’s take a break about laundry topics. Since the presidential elections is fast approaching, we wanted to give everyone a reminder.)

The online version of the ad have been deleted day after it went live in their Facebook page.

You can see 4 children at an age of 7 to 10 saying their fast speech to the camera.

Sabi ni nanay, huwag magnakaw. (Mother said, do not steal.)

Sabi ni lola, huwag mangupit. (Grandmother said, do not pilfer.)

Sabi ni tatay, huwag papatay. (Father said, do not kill.)

Sabi ni lolo, kung hindi pa handa, ‘wag pilitin. (Grandfather said, if you’re not ready, don’t push it.)

Pero sabi nila may kandidatong magnanakaw. (But they say there’s a candidate who’s a thief.)

May kandidato daw na kupitero. (They say there’s a candidate who takes what isn’t his.)

May kandidato daw na papatay ng tao. (They say there’s a candidate who will kill people.)

Bakit may kandidato na hindi pa handa? (Why is there a candidate who’s unprepared?)

Tanong lang po. (Just a question.)

Sila po ba ang dapat asahan para sa aming kinabukasan? (Are they the right ones to be entrusted with our future?)

The said ad was also aired during the last COMELEC presidential debate held in Cebu, on March 20 and heard over a provincial radio station last week.

Though the names of the candidates weren’t mentioned in the video, it is undeniably referring to the 3 presidential candidates.

VP Jejomar Binay of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), has long been accused for alleged corruption in his time as Makati mayor.

While front runner Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has been boldly criticized about his ways of addressing and criminality through extra-judicial killings.

Lastly, Poe has been facing issues about her citizenship that boils her down to be inexperienced about the highest post in the country.

The ad didn’t mention any trace of criticism towards Mar Roxas.

The corporation and family behind the political ads, was traced to be from the Province of Capiz, in which Mar Roxas served as a congressman for 9 years.

However, the “OMNIBUS ELECTION CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES” prohibit companies from donating to election campaigns.
